Morbid obesity continues to see a rapid increase in pediatric and adolescent populations.
Morbidly obese adolescents develop significant comorbidities that continue on into
adulthood. Although medical management in the overweight population of children can
be helpful, morbidly obese adolescents do not show significant long-term weight reduction
with lifestyle modification.
